Why American Made?
Purchasing an American made product, especially a futon frame, has many economical and environmental benefits. New shipments can take as long as 3 months when importing from the country of manufacture. This means the products must pass through several points that add tariffs and other customs fees to the products.

Located in Athens, Georgia, KD Frames uses kiln dried tulip poplar grown in the Southern Appalachian mountains. KD Frame’s products are generally very low-profile and modest in looks. But where they lack in style, they excel in function.
The tulip poplar wood that KD uses is much stronger than customers realize. This hardwood rarely breaks under common use, and is why this brand of futons continue to be some of the most popular futons in the industry. KD Frames ships their futons in an unfinished state, so you can add your own stain or even paint it.
Collegiate Furnishings
Based in State College, Pennsylvania, Collegiate Furnishings features futons and beds that are constructed of Southern Yellow Pine grown on sustainable plantations. Collegiate Furnishing’s products are organic and untreated. Because the wood arrives in its natural state, no fumes or gases have been released into the atmosphere.
Futon frames from Collegiate Furnishings are little bulkier than KD Frames but have relatively the same features. The styles are rather different as Collegiate Furnishings have a more stream-lined look.
American Made Futons
Finding reliable, eco-friendly ways to offer products is a hefty challenge. KD Frames and Collegiate Furniture are a few other of the only futon frame manufacturers left that produce eco-friendly, American grown and manufactured wood frames.
