A Boy and His Futon

After an entire week of anxiously waiting, the day had finally arrived. Little Timmy was so excited he could barely contain his glee. His Mom had ordered a complete futon package from FutonPlanet.com and the truck driver called this morning and said he was coming that afternoon! Timmy knew that it was a special futon that worked like a couch, a bed and a reclining chair all in one and he couldn’t wait to learn how to use it. He also knew that he got a blue futon cover to match the rest of his room; blue was Timmy’s favorite color. That morning, Timmy had watched happily as his Dad and Uncle took away his old, broken twin box spring and dilapidated mattress that looked like it was straight out of the dark ages. His Dad had promised to show Timmy how to set everything up that night when he got home from work so Timmy could sleep on his new futon that very night.

Once the delivery man had come and gone, Timmy unpacked the boxes and had everything set up and ready to go when his Dad got home. There were a ton of pieces but it only took them about 45 minutes to set the whole thing up. Timmy had brought in his Dad’s tool box from the garage, but the Bifold frame came with a little allen wrench and that was all they needed. Timmy’s Mom had put the cover on the mattress, and once they had the frame set up they just placed it right on top, and Timmy’s new bed was complete! Timmy rushed through dinner and actually couldn’t wait to get to bed, so his mom placed a fitted sheet and a blanket over top of the mattress and tucked little Timmy in for the night.

When Timmy got his futon he was 8 years old, and it endured 10 whole years of use through sleeping, rough housing and video games. His Mom had made sure Timmy took care of his mattress by rotating and flipping it at least once a month, and she even let him get a new cover or two as Timmy got older. At some point during the 5th year, Timmy and one of his friends had broken two of the seat slats by jumping up and down on his futon. His Mom called Futon Planet to see what they needed to do to fix it, and they told her not to worry. Her frame was covered under a 5 year warranty and they would contact the manufacturer and have him send her two new slats right away. In just a few days they had received the replacement slats at no cost, and Timmy’s futon was as good as new.
