There is no month like August when it comes to futon sales. More futon furniture products are sold in the US than any other month. This means that there can often be a lot of competition between buyers to buy their futon products before futon dealers run out. Often this can lead to increased prices as the formula of supply versus demand plays out once again.
However, this year seems to be different. While there are still plenty of buyers on the market, futon retailers are likely to be keen on running special discounts to help unload excess inventory they picked up earlier during the year.
Furthermore, with the apparent downturn in the economy, no futon retailer will want to get stuck with overage going into the 4th quarter of 2008. So take advantage of those companies that are running sales. The average consumer can expect to save 15% or more off regular prices.
Look for the best deals, but shy away from deals that are too good to be true. Some futon retail companies are offering bottom of the barrel quality products that amount to nothing but problems and wasted money. Other dealers are probably on their last legs and might be on the verge of shutting their doors. Ordering from these overburdened companies could lead to meaningless warranties or even worse a no-show of ordered products as the company folds before your eyes.
Look to buy products that are in stock whenever possible and if you are ordering online, be absolutely sure to call and check out the company before you buy. This is a great time for consumers looking for great deals. At the same time, this is also a time to proceed with caution, especially when the offer seems to good to be true.
Happy Shopping!
