Gold Bond has made a deal with Futon Planet in one of the giant power plays that make spectators wonder what can’t be bought at Futon Planet. Futon Planet (http://FutonPlanet.com) is one of the largest futon dealers in the United States and currently offers its products to any home–rural or urban–in all 48 continental states.
With the addition of Gold Bond, it is thought that Futon Planet now offers more flavors of futon mattresses than could possibly be needed by the average consumer. When asked about the depth of their selection, Gabe LeBlanc (President of Futon Planet) said, “There’s a mattress for everyone in this world. Futons are not all that different than shoes for that matter. People want the kind of selection that will suite their needs. In terms of comfort, one shoe that might fit me just perfect, might fit you horribly.”
LeBlanc continues by saying, “Sometimes people learn about a mattress and get fixed on it too. And that’s great when a person knows exactly what he or she wants. And Chances are good that we carry that one unique mattress that a given customer has been looking for all along and I think that’s a good thing.”
In the meantime, Gabe does concede that the large selection might cause problems for those who just want a good, better, best solution. “We are looking on designing a way to improve the ease of the futon mattress selection problem and the addition of Gold Bond may be the catalyst for us to hurry that process.
