Futon Planet ships futon frames and futon mattresses for free anywhere in the US. But there are something you should know before placing your order when it comes to shipping. This blog will help you be aware of how your products may ship, and what you can do to be prepared.
Shipping Futon Frames
Generally, futon frames are heavy and difficult to ship. Most of our futon frames are shipped from the manufacturer’s facility directly to you. This means the shipping company needs to use its most heavy duty vehicles to pick-up and deliver your futon. The only futon frame manufacturer that does not have large, bulky products would be KD Frames, which ships their products in smaller boxes to be handled by UPS.
There are somethings you should consider before ordering a futon frame from Futon Planet. First, how does UPS, FedEx and DHL deliver to you? This is generally the same way your futon frame will arrive. If you live in an apartment complex or dorm room, these delivery companies may deliver to the front office. Check with the front office to check on what the procedures are for delivering a larger packages.
The shipping company used to ship your futon frame varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Some will use common, well-known shipping companies, others may use local carriers to deliver your products.
Curbside Delivery
Curbside delivery is when a shipping company parks in front of your house or building for you to come and claim it. Typically, you are responsible for removing the products from the vehicle and taking them into your house. You should have a friend or family member help bring these items into your home, as futon frames are can be heavy.
If you have a long driveway, the carrier may even stop at the foot of the driveway. It is suggested that you have a SUV or a truck meet the delivery vehicle and pick up the products.
A carrier will call a day or two ahead of time to schedule an appointment to deliver your futon products. These appointments are available during business hours only and can span up to 4 hours. Signatures are required for curbside delivery.
Shipping Futon Mattress
Shipping futon mattresses is relatively similar to futon frames. However, some futon mattress manufacturers vacuum pack their futon mattresses down to get them to be smaller and easier to handle.
You’ll be highly impressed with Otis’s futon mattresses, as they arrive in a box. It’s surprising to see some of the highest quality futon mattresses available, stuffed into a little box that is about a fourth of the original mattress’s volume.
Sometimes futon mattresses take the longest to arrive when customers purchase their futon sets. Most of our futon mattresses are made upon ordering. This way you can feel secure that your futon mattress ships to you brand new, and has not been sitting in a warehouse for months on end.
Futon mattresses are shipped from common carriers such as FedEx, UPS, and DHL because they have been vacuumed packed and are easier to handle.
Shipping Futon Covers
Shipping futon covers is much more simple than futon mattresses or futon frames. Since most futon covers are small, they generally ship in a plastic bag directly to your front door. If you ordered pillows or other goods along with your cover, they will arrive in a box.
Futon covers are generally custom made and may take a while to ship. Futon cover manufacturers are very meticulous to make sure their covers are up to standard before they are shipped.
Shipping Futon Parts
Most futon parts are shipped using USPS and may take about week to arrive.
Shipping Addresses
Be sure to give the appropriate shipping address. We cannot deliver to P.O. Boxes. They are too small.
